Study on CVS Symptoms in 20s and 30s during the COVID-19 Pandemic: Focusing on Some Visitors to Optical Shops

Abstract
Purpose : This study investigated CVS-related eye awareness symptoms and vision-related discomfort among adults in their 20s and 30s during the COVID-19 pandemic, through this, as well as the preventive measures used for eye health.

Methods : Between December 2021 and February 2022, 150 adults in their 20s and 30s who visitedvisited optician for glasses or contact lenses prescription and consultation, and who did not have any systemic diseases, ocular diseases, or ophthalmic surgery, were selected. The study instrument was a 26-item questionnaire covering general characteristics (3 questions), self-perceived symptoms of CVS (16 questions), vision care (2 questions), ocular dysregulation (2 questions), use of blue light blocking glasses (2 questions), and near correction (1 question).

Results : The most frequent CVS subjective symptoms, 109 patients (72.7%) showed the highest frequency of ¡°Tearing¡± symptoms. Next, 104 people (69.3%) said, ¡°Eye pain¡±. Among CVS subjective symptoms, 106 people (70.7%) ¡°Blurred vision¡± was the most common vision-related subjective symptoms. As for vision management methods, 105 people (70.0%) ¡°Feeling that sight is worsening¡±, 150 people (84.7%) use blue light blocking glasses, and more than 80% of them use functions.

Conclusion : More than 50% were found in 14 out of 16 CVS subjective symptoms. Among CVS symptoms, 69.6% of the subjects who do not use blue light-blocking glasses said their eyesight-related ¡°Feeling that sight is worsening¡±. Many subjects complain of subjective discomfort symptoms and impaired vision during the COVID-19 pandemic. When prescribing glasses, it is considered necessary to inquire about the living environment, usage time, and subjective symptoms.
